How to Convert Anki Decks

Step 1: Export your Anki deck

1. Open Anki on your desktop application
2. Select the deck you want to export
3. Go to File → Export
4. In the export dialog:
   • Select "Anki Deck Package (*.apkg)" as the export format
   • Make sure "Include scheduling information" is unchecked (optional)
   • Make sure "Include media" is unchecked (recommended for faster conversion)
5. Click Export and save the .apkg file to your computer

Step 2: Upload and Convert

1. Go back to the main converter page
2. Click "Choose File" and select your .apkg file
3. Click "Convert to CSV"
4. Once converted, you can preview the flashcards and download the CSV file

What happens during conversion?

The converter extracts the front and back of each flashcard from your Anki deck:

• HTML tags are automatically removed
• The first field becomes the "front" of the card
• The second field becomes the "back" of the card
• The result is a simple CSV file with two columns: front, back

Troubleshooting

• No flashcards found: Make sure your deck has cards with at least 2 fields
• Upload failed: Check that your file is a valid .apkg file exported from Anki
• Unexpected content: The converter uses the first two fields only; if your cards have a different structure, the output may not match your expectations
